  “I hate my baby mama

All she do is talk shit and start a lot of drama

She be hating on me and always want a dollar

But I gotta deal with it cause I'm the baby's father

  I hate my baby mama

  I hate my baby mama

Yeah, I hate my baby mama.”

“Mannnn, her ass always calls at the wrong time. She’s just going to have to wait until I finish polishing this shit off. She more than likely don’t want shit anyway,” Neron said, biting into a garlic crab leg.

I didn’t even reply because I was into my food. I barely said shit when I was eating some crabs. Neron and I enjoyed a lovely seafood feast as my son slept peacefully in his swing. I loved my family.

After we had finished eating, Neron’s cell phone started ringing back to back. He blew air from out of his lips because we obviously knew it was Gabriela. Our hands were dirty since we’d just finished eating seafood and we needed to clean up, so he didn’t answer the call.

I stirred in my sleep as I heard Neron’s cell phone going off the hook. I thought I was dreaming. I shifted my body and sat up. I rubbed my eyes and nudged Neron.

“Hummm,” Neron groaned in his sleep.

“Baby, your phone is ringing,” I said groggily.

Neron shifted in bed and I felt him sit up. “Hello,” he said. I heard him sigh into the phone. “Can’t this wait until in the morning, Gabriela?”

When I heard him say her name, I was pissed. Why in the fuck was she calling at two-thirty in the morning? I sat up in bed and turned on the end table lamp.

“If you knew she needed diapers, why didn’t you call me earlier in the day? Well, I was busy when you called. Besides, why didn’t leave a text or voicemail? What’s wrong with your car? Can’t you drive yourself?”

I heard Gabriela talking loudly, going off about him being a deadbeat and she couldn’t believe he wouldn’t get out of bed to get his daughter some diapers since he was too busy playing house with me. That bitch got on my nerves.

“You’re going to have to wait til the morning. I’ll call you when I’m on my way,” he said hanging up.

I smiled when I heard him put her in his place.

After he had got off the phone with Gaby, I turned off the lamp and we snuggled back in bed, with my back against his chest. We spooned and his body felt good as his dick poked my ass. Before I knew it, Neron reached into my panties and started massaging my lower set of lips. A moan from flew my lips as I began to grind on his fingers.

I sucked my teeth when I heard Neron’s cell phone ringing again. “What the fuck, Neron!”

Neron didn’t care; he kept on fingering me as he kissed the back of my neck. Finally, the ringing of his cell phone stopped, but as quickly as it did, his phone started ringing again. Neron sighed and sat up. I sat up as well, turning the lamp back on. I looked at Neron and could tell from his facial expression that Gabriela was calling back again.

“What?” Neron barked into the phone. “She’s what? What’s her temperature?”

I crossed my arms over my chest and instantly got pissed off.

“What time are you taking her to the emergency room? Have you even tried to get her fever to go down first?” Neron put the phone on speaker and Gaby’s voice annoyed me.

“I don’t have any fever reducer medicine for her. She’s only nine weeks. I need to take her to the emergency room. As her fuckin’ father, you should be there. If your son was sick, you would go with Kimora! You won’t help with daycare expenses and now you can’t come and see about your fuckin’ daughter? Are you serious?!”

Neron shot me a look and shook his head, signaling me to stay quiet and not give Gabriela a reaction because ultimately, that was what she wanted. I kept quiet, but I rolled my eyes.

“I’ll be there in twenty minutes, Gabriela!” Neron hung up without waiting for a reply from Gabriela and tossed his phone onto the bed.

“You can’t be serious, Neron! It’s almost three in the morning and you’re about to fuckin’ fly to her house because Magdalena has a fever!” I stood up from the bed, in nothing but lace panties.

Neron stood up, ran his hands over his face in frustration, and shouted, “Kimora, baby, please, chill out! I’m one man trying to do the best that I can and make the best out of a fucked up situation. Gabriela is right, though, if our son had a fever, I would’ve gone with you to the emergency room. I can’t treat Magdalena any differently regardless of how much I hate her mother. I just need you to chill for a minute, Kimora.”

I walked around the bed towards him with a scowl on my face. “Are you seriously yelling at me in our home, about Gabriela?”

“Baby, look, I love you. I’m just trying to be a good man and a good father, Mora. Look, I’m going to stop by Walmart and get my daughter some diapers and will swing by Gaby’s crib to see how Magdalena is doing and I will be right back. Don’t worry about me, baby,” he said, sliding on some jeans.

“Fuck that! If you walk out that door, don’t come back!” I shot back.

“Are you serious? You’re saying I can’t come home because I’m trying to be a father to my daughter?”

“No, I’m saying I understand that you and Gabriela made a daughter, but you don’t have to jump when she says jump or fly over to her house every time she calls. I’m sick of this shit, Neron,” I yelled, storming into the bathroom and slamming the door shut.

I sat on the closed toilet seat lid and began crying. I was drained. I was tired of Gabriela. I knew Neron was a good father and I hated how Gabriela took advantage of that.

More tears fell from my eyes when I heard the alarm chirp, indicating that Neron walked out the front door. He indeed left to go to Gabriela’s house.

  Chapter 6

  Neron

I felt bad walking out on Kimora, but she should’ve understood that I still had an obligation to Magdalena as her father, regardless of how annoying Gabriela could be. The shit wasn’t even about Gaby. It was about my daughter.

After running through Wal-Mart to grab some diapers for Magdalena, I made my way to Gaby’s apartment. It was almost four in the morning and I was definitely tired. I hoped Gaby was telling the truth about Magdalena because her phone calls had caused tension in my relationship with Kimora.

I lightly knocked on her front door, careful not to wake up her brothers. Gaby answered the door in some pink cotton shorts and a white tank top with no bra. I noticed because her nipples were poking out. I hated being around her.

She stepped to the side and let me enter her apartment. I sat the box of diapers on the coffee table.

“Thanks for getting those. She only had about three left,” she said, closing and locking her front door.

“Three left? Gabriela, you called me and said she was out of diapers,” I said with my nostrils flaring.

“Yeah, I thought she was out, but I found three in her diaper bag. I must’ve forgotten about them. Calm down, Neron.”

“This shit isn’t a game. Where’s my daughter, so we can go to the emergency room? Why aren’t you dressed?” I asked staring a hole into her face. I swear I wanted to punch the shit outta her ass, but I wasn’t that type of dude.

“It suddenly went down. I took her temperature and she’s not as warm,” she said, walking off towards her bedroom.

I was heated. Here I was trying to co-parent with this bitch and she was damn near making this shit impossible. Everything was a game. I just left my apartment after Kimora told me not to come back. I left thinking my daughter needed me when all along, it’s a fuckin’ game to Gaby.

Gabriela came back into the living room carrying Magdalena. My daughter was beautiful. She handed her over to me and I kissed her cheek as she looked up at me, drooling. I smiled and place the back of my hand on her forehead. She wasn’t hot or even warm at all.

“So, are you going to fork over some coins for daycare? I found a nice place and I need to have money by Friday to pay th
em. Four hundred to be exact,” she asked, staring at me.

“Gabriela, she doesn’t feel like she has a fever,” I said staring at her angrily, ignoring her asking me for money.

“Well, I told you that her temp was going down,” she replied with an attitude.

“Going down? If it was going down, she at least would be warm. She isn’t,” I replied.

At that moment, I was done. I rushed over there, thinking something was wrong with my daughter. I thought she needed diapers when all along, Gabriela just wanted fuckin’ money.

“Look, let me take her for a few hours. It’ll give you extra time to have quality time with the boys,” I replied, hoping she would take the bait. I was going to file for sole custody and have Kimora and I file for restraining orders tomorrow.

“Fine, but when you drop her back off, I need money for her daycare expenses,” she said walking off.

I guess she was going to pack Magdalena’s baby bag.

This chick was crazy if she thought I was giving her any money that wasn’t accounted for. I had been keeping all my receipts for court. Hell, I was buying everything, so I knew it would be easy to show the judge how I was financially providing for Magdalena.

She returned with a packed baby bag, still rambling on and on about why I wasn’t giving her any money.

“You act like you don’t care, Neron. I’m telling you that I need money to help pay for your daughters daycare bill and you won’t even give me a dime. What kind of man are you?” she asked a little too loudly.

“I’ll have money for you when I return with Magdalena,” I lied to keep the situation calm.

I had no plans on returning to her house. As far as I knew, my daughter was going to be staying with Kimora and me, permanently.

“Fine, remember its four hundred that I need,” she said for the umpteenth time.

“Alright, we’re leaving,” I said, trying to keep my cool.

She walked over and kissed Magdalena on the forehead. She had surprisingly, fallen back asleep while in my arms.

I made it back home around five in the morning and couldn’t wait to surprise Kimora with my plan on filing for sole custody and getting restraining orders. This would be the first time that Kimora met my daughter. I turned on the living room light and picked Magdalena up from out of her car seat. I walked towards my son’s nursery to check on him. I opened the door and panic took over my body. My son wasn’t in his crib!

  “Kimora,” I yelled out frantically.

I trotted to our bedroom with Magdalena still in my arms. I walked into our bedroom and turned on the light. Kimora wasn’t there, neither was my son. My heart began pounding when I noticed Kimora’s clothes thrown around our bedroom.

I laid my daughter on our bed, in between two pillows so she couldn’t roll off. I walked into our walk in closet and noticed her suitcases were missing. She had left me! I couldn’t believe this shit.

I pulled my cell phone from out of my jean pockets and saw a text message. I clicked on it with urgency, hoping it was Kimora, but instead it was a text message from Gaby.

The Baby Mama from Hell: $400! Don’t forget!

I ignored her text and dialed Kimora’s number. It went straight to voicemail. I couldn’t believe she would leave me. Damn, I knew she said not to come back to the house, but I didn’t think she would take it this far and take my son to flee. I called back three more times and each time was met with her voicemail greeting. On the third try, I decided to leave a message.

“Kimora, it’s Neron. Where are you and my son? I took Magdalena from Gabriela. I’m filing for sole custody and I think it’s time we get restraining orders because once she notices that I’m not going to bring Magdalena back, she’s going to flip. Are you okay? Please call a nigga back. I love you, Mora.”

I sat down on the bed and eyed my daughter as she chewed on her little hand. I just wanted my family. I was just a nigga trying to do right by everybody. I just wanted to be a good father.

  Chapter 7

  Gaby

I know y’all were thinking that I was going to seduce Neron to try to get him back, but I was over him. The shit I used to trip on, I walked over now. I came to the conclusion that he was with who he wanted to be with and that person wasn’t me. Kimora won. Now, all I wanted was his money. His shop was doing well and I wanted a slice of the pie, but I couldn’t even get this nigga to fork over four hundred dollars, so I knew what I needed to do.

I didn’t even bother going to sleep once Neron left with Magdalena. I showered and quickly got dressed. I tossed on a sexy round collar sleeveless floral print dress with a pair of black peep-toe pumps. I pulled my hair into a messy bun with spiral curls on each side of my face and I looked flawless. For once, in a long time, I looked good.

I had a surprise for Neron. I was making my way to Davis Street, downtown, to file for child support. I had given him numerous attempts to help me out financially. Plus, with the kind of money he was pulling in from the shop, I was sure I would get a nice monthly amount from his ass. Fuck him!

I walked into the child support office with pep in my step. After completing an application and giving them all the information about Neron, I walked out of the office confident and already feeling like new money.

I pulled my sunglasses over my eyes and unlocked my car door. I slid inside and my phone rang. I had to do a double-take as I stared at my cell phone screen.

“Hello,” I said with slight attitude.

“Hey, it’s Paul. I just wanted to see how you were holding up?” he asked.

“Holding up? I’m fine. I’m over you and the trifling shit you and Renee did. Please, don’t call me anymore,” I said abruptly and hung up.

This man had some nerve to call me after he betrayed me with Renee. I tossed my cell phone into the passenger seat and cranked up my car. I was barely able to get halfway down the road when Paul called again. I let the call roll over to voicemail. This man was a bugaboo. Seriously!

I pulled into my apartment complex and had to do a double-take when I noticed Paul’s truck. What in the hell was wrong with him?

I cut off my car, grabbed my purse, cell phone, and briskly walked toward my apartment door. I heard a car door close and I knew it was Paul getting out of his car. I didn’t feel like being bothered with this man.

  “Gabriela?” Paul called out.

I could hear his footsteps approaching me and knew he was running to catch up to me.

I turned around, grimacing. I was really feeling Paul and for him and Renee to betray me, hurt. I guess that was how Kimora felt all this time. I guess Karma was a bitch, huh?

“Gabriela, I need to talk to you,” said Paul calmly.

Damn, he looked so good. To refresh your memory, Paul had honey colored skin, a bald head, and the biggest dimple in his left cheek. He had the type of eyebrows that had lines cut through them. He also had a top and bottom gold grills and was dressed to impress. He gave off the impression of Pete from the movie Baby Boy. He was dressed in an LRG outfit and a 14k white gold chain hung from his neck that glistened in the Florida sun.

“What’s to talk about, Paul? You fucked my friend behind my back and neither one of you two told me y’all had history when we first met. That’s fucked up,” I said turning my back towards him as I unlocked my front door.

I really wanted to know what else he could possibly have to say, so I didn’t even bother to close my front door. He took that as an invite to walk inside my apartment. I heard him shut the door behind me as I sat my purse, car keys and cell phone on my coffee table.

“How are you holding up?” Paul asked again.

“Why in the hell do you keep asking me that? What you think I should be crying over your ass and in a deep depression? Boy, please!” I snapped.

I was ranting and raving as Paul walked towards my remote and turned my television on. He landed on the news channel.

  “Renee is dead,” he said.

  I stared a
t the television as the reporter spoke about finding a woman’s body identified as Renee George. That was why she was missing from work. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This couldn’t be true.

  “W—what,” I stuttered.

“She was found today in a wooded area. It’s been all over the news, which is why I thought you knew,” he said slowly walking towards me.

Tears filled my eyes. I suddenly couldn’t breathe and almost fell to the floor, but Paul grabbed me before I could. I let out a piercing scream as I buried my head into Paul’s chest. What Renee did was shady, but she didn’t deserve to be murdered. I felt a panic attack coming on. I was hyperventilating.

“Breathe, Gabriela,” Paul coached as he caressed my back.

“Who did this?” I cried out, in between deep breaths.

“They aren’t sure. They have no leads yet. I thought you knew which is why I reached out,” Paul murmured.

Paul guided me to the sofa as I sat down. I couldn’t wrap my mind on what I just found out. Renee wasn’t a bad person. She didn’t deserve this.

“I’m sorry, Gabriela. Shit is fuckin’ crazy. They have no leads,” he said softly.

Snot ran down my face onto my lips as my tears clouded my vision.

“Will you stay with me tonight,” I pleaded.

“You know I will,” he said, sitting down next to me and pulling me into him.

He kissed my forehead and we positioned ourselves in the spooning position. He just held me and caressed my hair. Eventually, the crying led to me floating off to sleep.

  *

I woke up to Paul sitting on the loveseat and staring at me. “How’d you sleep?”

“Okay, I guess. I feel like I’m in a nightmare. I was hoping it was a dream,” I whispered.
